I haven't even worn a chastity device (I would if I could afford one - all CB's are quite expensive in local currency, and way too expensive for a student). Although if I ever got one, the first thing would be to check if it fits well and doesn't cause you any pain or cut off blood cicrulation. Then after reassuring that it's safe, I would bring myself to the edge sick amount of times, then go soft, put the cage on and put the key in a safe place (I've read that some people freeze their keys - so they can get the key when it's needed, but they have to wait until the ice melts).
I think the belt wearers will give your more precise and useful advice :)

I concur with the above advice. Get used to it during the day, first of all. When it comes to wearing it at night, that is a whole new step. If you sleep on your stomach, you'll find it difficult with a belt on, and nocturnal erections will be quite uncomfortable. It took me several goes before I was able to go through the night and keep a CB on the next day.

You will get used to it, but probably not straight away, so be patient.

Don't see much problem there - stick it under hot water and it's melted in seconds. Unless you freezed it in a 20 liter canister, that is.

The biggest problem i find when in a chastity device is keeping clean even if your just wearing it for few hours that and nighttime erections they can be painful but once you have the right fit everything is fine.

Try going a week without removing it, you could try Carlilock but you would need a combination lock. If you have access to the key its far to easy to give in and remove it and it kind of ruins the experience.
