Embedding videos

I just added an experimental feature for video embedding. Basically you just add the link for the video to your tease and the site automatically turns it into an embedded video player.

Only specific whitelisted sites are supported. (See list below.)

Usage

To embed a video, you simply add the link to the video in the text of your tease. The link must be on a line of its own otherwise it won't work. It has to be the full link including http.

For testing you can create a page with this text:

The following sites are currently supported, please note the format of the URL and check that your URL looks similar.

• xHamster
  Example: http://xhamster.com/movies/999780/ruby_ ... _skin.html
• XXNX
  Example: http://video.xnxx.com/video65754/teen_from_argentine
• Xtube
  No preview image before you click play. Annoying logo intro.
  Example: http://www.xtube.com/watch.php?v=ItHVr-S361-
• Empflix
  Sometimes shows an ad for a long time while buffering.
  Example: http://www.empflix.com/videos/Teasys-Bu ... 21752.html

Help Wanted!

Milovana now needs your help in these three areas:

• What are the most important video sites that we need to add?
• A lot of older teases have links in them - did any of them get messed up?
• Try making a tease with the new feature and report any problems!

Thanks in advance for your help, this makes a big difference and saves a lot of debugging time.

Caveat: Please note that the videos are embedded and not hosted on Milovana. There is a very real chance that the video will be removed and XTube may one day change their policies on embedding or even shut down for whatever reason. So when you use this feature you are risking that your tease will one day spontaneously break. We'll do our best to fix teases that are broken in this way, which may include contacting you to request a fix or even letting the community vote on a suitable replacement video.

Note: Unfortunately, we cannot add this feature for FlashTeases, however it will very likely be added to Eos (the FlashTease successor) at some point.

There is no limit, but there are good reasons to reject some sites.

Some sites like xTube use an embed code based on the <object> tag. If we use those codes that technically gives that site access to our login cookies, which is an obvious security issue. Most sites are now switching over to <iframe> based embed codes that don't have this problem. YouTube switched in mid-2010.

In short, sites with an Iframe have a much better chance of getting added. Other criteria are: Reliability, legal compliance, server performance, video quality, topical relevance, terms of service conditions and amount of advertising. And of course the site has to allow embedding to begin with.

Just regular teases. FlashTeases will never support it and Eos will support it eventually.

Update 1: Most empflix links seem to not be working, even when the videos are still online following the link manually.

xtube does not seem to be working. At least int he few teases that I tried with xtube links in them.

When I search for xTube I only get one result which isn't a video link, just a link to that site in general.

Can you guys post the exact links to those pages where the videos aren't working please?

I found that on pages of multiple videos they all start when the page opens.
