Full article on Vice.
I shouldn't, but I do find this pretty funny. Wonder how easy it is to remove once locked on. Most devices aren't that secure to pull out of, but I can see the ball trap being particularly hard to get out of if it's built properly. Anybody own one of these?

Unfortunatelly this is not new: https://www.bbc.com/news/technology-54436575
As for gettign out, as far as I know it's pretty sturdy. Can't remember where, but I read that some poor sods needed an angle grinder for it...
Edit: Screw your signature btw, I slapped the screen a couple times before I realised that it's not an actual bug. :D

Oh yeah I saw it earlier too, but I think actual hacker and using for ransomware is new. Also the article you linked to has a nice way of opening it up, basically prying up the panel hiding circuitry and connecting a battery across two terminals. Suppose that might be the easiest way out.
And that bug! Guilty as charged.

I was very intrigued when I saw this device launched. But after I looked at the app I decided that it was a bad idea and I had a feeling something like this would happen, so it's no surprise that it has. A shame really because it's quite a nice idea for a device, certainly something people fantasise about.
I wonder what it was like for the people who's devices were hacked, I'd love to speak to someone who had their "cock" hacked.
