Rules:
The nominations are the 5 highest rated teases of the month. If two webteases have the same rating, the webtease with more votes will rank higher.

In case of a tie, a final round of voting will take place. Only the teases that were part of the tie can participate and the voting time is decreased to two days, to grant the winner's tease as much time as possible time on our front page.

Only one tease per author can participate. We'll use only the best rated tease for authors with multiple qualifying teases.

The voting system should be separated from the webtease itself. Hence webteases encouraging a vote for the TOTM to manipulate the system will not be nominated at the end of the month regardless of ranking.

The prize is a special user rank in our forum and a mark in the "Browse Teases" area.

Winner's Name

If your tease is nominated, please don't make any changes until the voting period is over, or you risk being disqualified.

If any issues happen that are not clarified by these rules the Team of Milovana has the right and the the duty to adjust the rules for finding the best and most fair solution to overcome this issue. There is no way for participants to affect a decision by the Team.

I object.

There are many CockHero teases which should be in this competition, but are not becuase of cheating.

I vote for The Stroker Ace Challenge by supermokkori for TOTM november 2011.

Someone in England is changing their IP and mass down voting the teases while not logged in.

I agree with all of the above, but I don't really see what I can do about it.

Many people have brought up the idea of having it so that only registered members can rate teases. I don't think there's been an official response yet on the feasibility of this idea, but I would be interested in one as it seems (on paper at least) to be the best way to combat this latest trend.

the problem is that as the TOTM shows very few members vote.

I just checked and currently
In total there are 456 users online :: 37 registered, 1 hidden and 418 guests
(based on users active over the past 15 minutes)

As you can see we have more than ten times as many guests as members.

I dont have any thoughts on doing away with TOTM.

But, here is a proposal for future TOTM:
Have a one week period before the TOTM voting in which people can nominate additional teases which are put into TOTM competiton.

For ex: suppose the five top rated teases get into TOTM, Allow another 3 to get into TOTM, these other 3 teases will be based on user nominations; so that finally we have 8 teases in TOTM competition.

Currently, the TOTM entries are determined by all users, logged in or not, and the winner is determined solely on logged in users. Thus there is a split.
Allowing logged in users to nominate additional teases would make more sense, so that good teases which might not be rated that high by the general population would still have a chance to get in the competition.

Some basic rules can be applied for the nomination process, like, only users with 50+ posts can nominate; at least 4 nominations required etc.

It might be that not having TOTM would reduce bad voting; it's hard to say. But I think that bad voting is going to happen anyway, with people feeling strongly about issues like having a story or not, or sexual orientation, etc.

Personally I'd hate to see the TOTM competition go away. It's one of the great traditions of this site.
I agree that not having the TOTM might make people less passionate about writing teases, but I don't think we really want to kill that kind of passion.

Well, I guess "The Housemate" is heading for a clear victory this month!

A thank you from me to the one that has voted on my tease (beside myself of course :P), I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Who knows, maybe a final sprint at the end of the voting period can bring any change to a sure win for "vinkas"?

And my opinion about the TOTM issue: as a newbie at this site I really like the idea of the TOTM. It just gives a little extra credit to the designer of the nominated and winning teases, which is a nice way to let them see their effort is appreciated!

As this is the last day of voting, I figure I better add my comments to the issue at hand. And btw, thank you Human - very very kind of you to appreciate my video tease as your favorite this month.

I want to state that on a personal level - as one of the creators of a video tease this past month - while it would've been nice to be nominated and/or win, I'm not sweating it at all. I personally think that as a community, those who chose to create teases be it text, flash, or video do it because they enjoy sharing it on various levels - if you're creating a tease just to win a TOTM award, more power to you but I don't think that's a good reason to make one.

With that said, on one hand it stinks - the creators of video teases have worked really, really hard to create these new types of video teases and for the most part, they're highly appreciated by the vast majority of the Milovana community; hell, there have been a bunch of new Milovana members (myself included) who discovered this community because of the Cock Hero type video teases. To deny video tease creators any type of official website appreciation and recognition because of some petty "ballot stuffing" is pretty sad. Of course video tease creators appreciate the comments in their feedback threads; and it's because of the huge amount of appreciation by Milovana members that would lead one to believe at least ONE of the Cock Hero video teases be nominated. Look at it this way: out of all the nominated Classic teases this month, only ONE actually has a feedback thread. Almost every single Cock Hero video tease has a feedback thread with overwhelmingly positive feedback. Sure, most of the video tease creators started their feedback thread, but that's not their fault for doing so. In the end, it really stinks.

ON the other hand, the fact that video teases are classified as "classic teases" to begin with is kinda wrong; no offense to the solid writing skills of those traditional classic tease writers, but there's a lot more work, time, skill and effort needed to make a video tease. In that sense, there's nothing "classic" about a video tease at all. I realize that video teases are pretty new and there probably isn't enough and won't be enough in the future to create a "video tease of the month" category; that they were lumped into "classic teases" in the past since some classic teases actually offlink to a streaming adult video. So in that sense it's kind of unfair to creators of the traditional "classic teases" because if I had to wager, a video tease would win over a classic tease more often than not.

So, where does all this rambling lead? My honest feeling is that we should just call off the November voting, since there was pretty clear evidence of skewed voting to prevent any of the Cock Hero video teases from being nominated. Additionally, there's also suspicion that voting for Flashteases is also being manipulated today as well.

Furthermore, any type of voting, especially rating teases, should only be done by registered members - while it's nice to have guests to check out what's being offered here at Milovana, only members should be allowed to vote. Plus it gives a small incentive to guests to finally register to be a member.

Don't get me wrong, here - there's a small selfish part of me that was hoping my video tease would be nominated, so I'm not on my soapbox here with just pure humble intentions. That said, if video teases are up for TOTM nomination then considering the fantastic quality of all video teases this past month, at least ONE of them should've gotten a nomination.

To reiterate, it stinks.

Addition: So many guys including myself work their ass off to make video teases. I am sorry to say this but I think we put alot more time and hard work into making these video teases than a few on that so called top 5..

Also, since we now know that the voting has been manipulated, the whole TOTM should be cancelled..

It stinks..

I'll also add that allowing a TOTM when ballot stuffing is *known* reduces the recognition to earlier and future honest winners, as Milovana would be tacitly saying that ballot stuffing is allowed in TOTM.

Yes, I agree that it would be best to not give out awards this month. I also like the idea of a separate category for cockhero like video teases. I agree with the point that they are different enough from the classic text and picture teases that they should be voted on separately.

I've been giving this situation a lot of thought and deliberation. Circumstances in November regarding tease ratings and TOTM voting have been highly suspect. Though I run the competition in an unofficial capacity, the TOTM has a very important legacy to the history of the site, and I take it very seriously. That's why it's taken me a couple of days to come around on what to do this month.

It's obvious to me that a lot of teases that should have been nominated weren't. I've been trying to come up with ideas to reform the system, but every idea I come up has an exploitable flaw. The more I try to change the system so that it works, the more I keep going back to understanding the system that has always been.

The tease posting system, the rating system and the voting system all have one important thing in common: Anyone can avail themselves of those systems. Anyone who wants to write a tease can do so, with any degree of perceived ability on any fetish that they respond to. Anyone can rate a tease and join the community in giving critical acclaim to well-done, intricately constructed teases, and universal displeasure at spam teases. The TOTM gives the community the chance to vote on an award that has historically inspired and rewarded many tease-crafting artisans that have come and gone through the years.

While there has been TOTM controversy in the past, and this month certainly adds to it, I believe the system has worked as intended far more often than not. When it doesn't work, it seems to be because of a very small amount of people with an agenda. To those people, I say this:

Please consider what you're doing. Manipulating the system to benefit one tease or harm another has further reaching implications than you might realize. While many have suggested that an author's motivation should be nothing more than the joy of writing, this is just one possible form of expression that might motivate someone. Many authors in the past have used the TOTM as a barometer for quality of their work, some use it to compare against other high rated teases to hone their craft, some would just like that shiny badge next to their name in the forum. Whatever the motivation, the TOTM has inspired many authors I've known ever since I called myself The Edge back in 2008.

When you undermine that system, when you exploit the cracks, even if just to demonstrate there are cracks, you are hurting the morale of not just the established writers who look to the TOTM for motivation, but the up and comer's or one-time writers who just want to believe that their work just might be nominated and recognized.

In short, losing faith in the system has the potential to make many authors question the incentive to even write a tease in the first place. Not just the writers of teases you dislike, but the teases you do like, and the teases not yet written that will come to be your favorites. So please, before manipulating the system for short-term personal interest, please consider the long-term ramifications.

Having said that, I am going to award the TOTM winners reflected in the current votes. Not because I believe they are (or aren't) the rightful winners, but because that's the results of the system this site has used for years. No, the system isn't perfect, but it is only ever a reflection of how we treat it. If we all respect the system, I know it will continue to inspire many authors for years to come. And at the end of the day, that's what we all want, right? More awesome teases that cater to many different tastes.

That's what Milovana's all about!
