My first post! I'm a new face but I've been visiting Milovana regularly for the past ten years or more, yet I've been postponing making an account over and over and over. Finally, I found my reason to do it, after knowing of the demand for a new iteration of the CHOTY awards, and Iridescence's lack of time. I loved the CHOTY awards myself, and I think it makes no sense that we don't have a TOTM but for videos. And I see myself indebted to all the creators that have worked on the releases this site has seen throughout all these years, the least I can do is give them a bit of the recognition they deserve! So, after much delay due to the site's technical problems, I'm here to present the Video of the Year 2022 awards!
Voting will start on February the 10th, and last for two weeks until the 24th. From now until the 10th, we have a week to discuss and to tell all your friends and family to remember to vote
Below I've written a Q&A detailing the reasons for this year's changes, and at the end is a list with all of the releases that will be participating. Please, I ask of you to refrain from discussing said reasons in this post, I welcome criticism but I think we've run out of time to debate before the 2022 iteration. However, if after reading the requirements for each group you disagree with the group a release was put into, please post below, if anyone seconds your opinion I will change it to the category you think is best (there's more than a hundred entries and I've only glanced through the majority of them, plus the line is blurry at times, so it's most welcome!). Same thing if you see I missed a release, or I fucked up any other way, let me know and I will add it.
Q: VOTY? Isn't it CHOTY?

- A: It was CHOTY last year, it was Iridescence thing and the inspiration for VOTY. I talked to Iridescence and got his blessing already but, because I didn't want to step on his thing (and to honor milovana's creativity), I wanted to make my own thing. Which is mostly a change in how entries are grouped, which is now less focused on cock hero.
Q: But why? Cock hero is the best!

- A: I know! I love cock hero, it's what got me into milovana in the first place. But the format has mutated and diversified, we have cock heroes with and without bars, fap heroes, edge heroes and cock heroes with lax rules that aim to make you stay on the edge (rather than be a test of endurance), beat hero, hypno and other voiced productions, PMV and productions that are a mix of or don't fit any of the former. It becomes too difficult (and maybe pointless) to make categories for each, instead I decided to take focus away from the format and put it into the content and the length. Since the beginning of time, porn is divided into soft and hard. It's a division I thought worth keeping, it's difficult to judge softcore productions next to hardcore ones, their audience and the things they are aiming for are too different. The problem with cock heroes and the like is that too many videos are neither soft nor hard, I tried but it was impossible not to include a third group, I called it "soft hardcore". The fourth and fifth groups come from the fact that I think that, while it may be fair to compare a release to another which is twice its duration, to compare it to another which is four times its duration sounds a bit ridiculous to me. The sixth and final category includes all releases, it's the video of the year!
Q: "Soft hardcore"? That sounds ridiculous, why not "traditional" or "progressive"?

- A: It does, a bit. But, recalling how cock hero started, I think productions that fall between soft and hard are often not traditional really. Sometimes they are not progressive either, and it's not like softcore or harcore productions are not progressive.
Q: What are the requirements for each group then?

- A: I thought the easiest way to divide between soft and hard is by nudity (and in the case of male nudity it includes acts like handjobs, blowjobs, penetration, etc.), a softcore video has no female nudity for at least a quarter of it and male nudity for at most a quarter of it, a hardcore video has no male nudity for at most a quarter of it, a soft hardcore video is anything that fits in neither of the previous two. Keep in mind it's a fuzzy differentiation anyway, it's the idea that counts, not the number of minutes a nipple or a penis is shown. The three previous categories are for videos 30 min or longer, for videos between 10 and 29 min there's the "short" category, and the "short short" for those 9 min or shorter.
Q: Why not divide the "short" and "short short" categories based on content as well?

- A: First, because there is not enough of them. I want at least ten entries in each group, I want each award to mean something, so each production needs to compete against a good number of others for it to gain an award. Second, because it becomes too difficult (and maybe pointless) to separate soft from hard when the video is not long enough.
Q: Why no groups for gay, trans, hentai, cg, etc?

- A: First, as I said just now, because there's not enough of them. Second, because I don't want an entry to be in more than one category, lists are long as they are and it's better to concentrate votes on the entries that matter most for each instead spreading votes among entries that will have a better chance to win in other categories anyway.
Q: Will there be an award ceremony like last time?

- A: I don't know how to and I don't think I'll have the time :( Iridescence said he can try to throw together a shorter video in the last minute, but no promises.
Finally, I'll be using freeonlinesurveys.com except you suggest a better alternative (but not google forms, please), it's what Iridescence used last year, it's free and it allows for a thousand responses (we need it, hundreds of you responded last year). It doesn't allow for surveys longer than two weeks though, and I prefer open source software, but you can't have it all I guess.
