The Edge's Custom Tease Contest

Post by The Edge 2.0 »

Heya everybody.

Now that I've finished my work with the HHnF series, and have turned my complete attention to my Secret Project, I've suddenly been reminded just how much I can't function unless I have a mess of stuff going on. Therefore, I am presenting the following contest:

In a moment I will present a riddle, of sorts. I will write a custom tease for the first person to correctly answer this riddle. Yup, that's all there is to it. Be the first to answer and I'll write a tease about whatever you like, how specific you like, then post it in the webtease section. (Within reason, I reserve the right to refuse anything I find reprehensible, but I'm a pretty open guy. :-D ) Them's the only rules, nothing that freaks me out and I can make it public with the rest of the teases. :-)

And now for the riddle:

The following 6 movies share a very specific, though absurdly obscure, common link between them. What is that link?

Tango & Cash (1989)
Cobra (1986)
Syriana (2005)
The Patriot (2000)
The Frighteners (1996)
Under Siege (1992)

The number after each movie is the year it came out, but the years have nothing to do with the link

(There's an astronomical chance that these movies could share an entirely different link as well, but only the specific one I am thinking of will win.)

I consider this an amazingly difficult riddle, so I will leave this contest open until May 1st, assuming nobody comes up with the answer. Of course it's just as likely I'll get an answer within seconds of posting this. :-P

So, for all those who are interested - Good luck!

They aren't all Warner Bros films, are they?

I've seen 4 from 6. I am going to go with a guess and say the same actor/actress plays a character in each one of them. Not a main character but they have a role in the movie or something. :-/

Nope, but feel free to make as many guesses as you like. Though I can safely say to anyone that when they have the right answer, they'll know it. :-)

I will actually, but I think the prize would be wasted on me.

How about a guess to start with. They all had the same catering staff?

Nope, nope nope. Well, I can only assume they didn't, but that definitely isn't the answer.

They all had the same best boy, though ironically he became less and less of a boy with each movie, eventually becoming the best girl by the time Syrianna was published.

the box art/poster of each movie is predominately that of a male head?

The title of each contains a vowel and some other letters?
They were all nomiated for awards?

No, you're thinking of The Karate Kid trilogy. (Thomas Ian Griffith kicks ass, let's make that clear right now)

The head thing is an interesting observation, but no.

Each title does indeed contain vowels and consonants, but even slightly more obscure than that. :-)

And sadly, Cobra would be the exception to the award rule, as wikipedia tells us: "Cobra was a modest hit at the box office, but was widely panned by critics for its cartoonish violence and cliched plot."

Each of the leading actors all currently have a movie in production?

Each of the leading actors all directed a movie at some stage in the their career?

The all had Ron Jeremy in them? (coz you just know he's in EVERYTHING !!!!)

Oh and yes.. Cobra did get 6 Razzie nominations...

No on all counts, I'm afraid, but believe me, I can think of 10 perfectly good reasons why Cobra not only should have NOT been panned, but in fact won an Oscar.

And I'm not alone in this:

As someone who enjoys a challenge as well, I hope you find this one worth your meddle! This is no easy riddle, but I do like your attitude. :-) Good luck, you're going to need it.
