Agreed - but ensure you're well informed beforehand: there's a huge variation in the knowledge doctors have of mental health matters!

Les - cost IS a factor; but it is not the primary one. Reading through the guidelines should make this clear.
The process of developing a guideline is based on evidence of effectiveness, incorporating the views of practitioners and service users. It's not primarily cost.
