EDITORIAL PREFACE
As interim editor for JISSIHM, I have taken quite a bit of grief for devoting such a large fraction of my first two issues to Dr. Richard Joff's interview with Dr. Maria Pavlova. Many readers have written to complain that they have found their boyfriends or husbands masturbating while reading these issues! As I noted in the previous issue, I even caught my own husband masturbating while reading them! (But he has been dealt with appropriately, I can assure you.)
Nevertheless I continue to hope that publishing this interview will have a beneficial impact on the ethics of the researchers in our field, who can, through this interview, contemplate the corrupting influence of the kind of power that Dr. Pavlova accumulated over her husband.
Still, it is with considerable trepidation that I am publishing the third issue devoted to this interview. I am especially worried because of the way that Dr. Pavlova has insisted on changing the way that the story is narrated. Unfortunately, Dr. Joff seems to be completely firm in his insistence that they story be told as Dr. Pavlova narrated it, as you can see from his explanation at the beginning of the following installment.
