Hi guys I was following the forum for a while now and I decided to try and make my CH video... so I'm asking here for some suggestions... but since I don't want to leave you empty handed here's a little teaser from what should be the first round:

It's a work in progress so i want to hear your feedbacks about the beats, clips, music and other stuff considering that there are some things that I need to fix:

1. Add texts
2. Fix the beatmeter bar design
3. Decide a name ---> Done

Looks great! Good job with the beat meter and matching, especially since it's your first one.

I think its got potential but the mixing of 2 clips at such vastly different quality levels was very jarring to me. when mixing 2 clips I find it works best if they have some fairly similar characteristics that link them. As it is though every time the low res clip came on I was like whoa, what happened, ouch my eyes which is very distracting from the action. That was my only major gripe

For a first attempt the beat matching and audio editing was really well done but as always with these things, it could use some tweaking, at the transition between songs especially the fade in, I would personally fade in the beat as well to keep them locked in together better. I would probably make the beat noise very slightly quieter but that is just personal preference.

I liked the look of this but I think you should stick with 720p resolution at most. At 720p the HD content looks great and non-HD content looks reasonably acceptable also. You should get smaller file sizes too for your final video.

On the music and beats - no problems. For a 1st go they're very good and better than my 1st try I liked the variations and the general speed too.

So overall, a nice round! Drop the resolution a bit and the in-video resolution changes should look better.

I agree with what the guys said about the resolution.
You should (unfortunately) stick with basic NTSC rez if more than say 20-30% of your material is at that or lower resolution. It really breaks the illusion of the HD material when you suddenly have some really low res stuff in the middle. Now I'm not saying you should not use non-HD material, but you should think about the final product in regard of the whole thing - if you have lots of non HD stuff, don't render the video in HD.

Just my thoughts on the issue. My previous comments still stand thought, nice work on the beats and the scenes look hot too!

I think that I'll actually switch to 720p since most of the material that I'm using is at that res.

For the low res clip, yeah it seems a bit out of place but I really like it
Anyways I'll try not to use any low-res clips for the next rounds

Yep, and I need to put a little bit more pause between the beat changes. As it is, it's hard to catch up with the new beat

I haven't watched the teaser yet, but here's a thought. If you have non-HD stuff that's good, maybe you could use it in the same rounds so it's not noticeably flipping from one res to another. Then it won't be distracting.

That way good videos won't go to waste because of the res.

Just a thought from a non-video-editor.

Looks great! I would drop the audible beat in scenes where there already is a beat. It is never spot on. I did not mind the mixing of HD and non-HD content that much.
